Barston lake was a former gravel pit finished nearly 30 years ago. It was left alone until five years ago the current owners bought the land and developed it into a golf course and fishery. It is now a well established fishery, with the match weight record at over 100lb, and the biggest fish now over 30lb.

The Big Fish Lake at Suffolk Water Park is a horseshoe shape and nears 25 acres. It has many interesting features with silt patches, gravel bars, weed beds and overhanging trees and bank side vegetation. With many large Carp in the 20's and 30's. Also on site four further match lakes totaling 110 pegs which are available for day ticket fishing when matches are not in progress. These lakes are all accessible by car. Also on site is the Traditional Lake which is aimed at the specialist angler and holds carp, Bream and Tench to double figures. There are also very good facilities with a cafe on site.
